New Top Best Free Blackberry Applications

Blackberry smartphones have a wealth of free applications available for them which can let you get more out of your device. In this article, Blackberry Free Themes Applications take a look at some of the best free Blackberry applications you can download to your device to have more fun with it, and be more productive at the same time!

1. Yahoo, Windows Live and Google Talk IM clients all updated to v2.5.108

If you're fond of using either Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger or Google Talk on your BlackBerry device you'll want to hit BlackBerry App World and check for updates. RIM has uploaded new versions of all three, pushing them to v2.5.108. What version you have installed now will of course depend on what OS you're running and whether or not you've updated them previously but either way the latest and greatest are available now so get to it.
2. BlackBerry App World

A new BlackBerry App World beta has just been released to the BlackBerry Free Applications Beta Zone. The latest update bumps you from v3.0.1.20 to v3.0.1.28, although no change log is listed in the 'What's new?' section as of yet it looks to just be a maintenance release and doesn't bring any drastic changes to it. If you spot anything, be sure to drop some notes in the comments. Enter the BlackBerry Beta Zone

 3. Blackberry Amazon Shopping Application

Amazon, one of my favorite places for shopping, just released their own application for the BlackBerry smartphone. I was wondering the other day when they were going to release a mobile app since their mobile version of the site is not that great.

What I really like about this application is that it has a scrolling menu at the top that lets you scroll through all their menus, which makes it really easy for browsing.

It lets you sign in to your account if you already have one,  and it shows you items that you recently searched for. One of the things that really impressed me with this application is how fast it processes your searches and how easy it is to browse through it, at least on my 8900.

4. Pandora for BlackBerry

Pandora Radio is your own FREE personalized radio now available to stream music on your BlackBerry. Just start with the name of one of your favorite artists, songs or classical composers and Pandora will create a "station" that plays their music and more music like it.

Already a Pandora user? Even easier. Just sign in. Pandora on BlackBerry is fully integrated with Pandora on the web. Enjoy all your existing stations - and create new ones right from your BlackBerry.

5. Free BBNotePad 1.1.2 Final is out

- Open and save text files in BB memory and BB SD card(Max 64,000 bytes)
- Open ANSI, UNICODE, UNICODE-BE and UTF-8 text file formats.(Windows formats with BOM)
- Save file in UTF-8 format.

6. BlackBerry Messenger

Chatters of a feather flock together. That's the impetus behind BlackBerry Messenger, RIM's instant messenger for BlackBerry users that skips over SMS fees and goes straight to your pal's IM in-box. Version 5 takes a huge leap forward with a ton of new features: tiny thumbnail images of your contact so you don't forget who you're talking to, photo-sharing for files up to 6MB, and the ability to chat with groups of friends in addition to individuals.

Your method for getting those friends also gets a twist. You can use the person's unique BlackBerry PIN or their e-mail address to find them. If you're in the same physical space, one of you can also display your 2D "QR" barcode for the other to optically recognize through the BlackBerry's camera. Lest you fret that managing multiple open chat windows confuse you, you'll find that pressing the Menu key cues you up to switch among open conversations.

Our major complaint is that it's a beast of an app to download, especially if your data connection is weak. While using it over the data network is fine when you're not transferring files, you'd better be in a

7. Facebook for BlackBerry - Free BlackBerry software downloads

Let's face it. Unless you're rocking a touch-screen BlackBerry, you just don't have the real estate for the gargantuan app you would need to really appreciate Facebook. If you've ever seen Facebook on an iPhone, you'd see where you'd miss out with a hugely interactive interface, smooth swiping, pinch and zoom photos, and so on. Yet Facebook and RIM have made the best of it with this app. The newsfeed includes a status bar for your immediate updates, and tiny thumbnail photos smaller than your fingernail. You can sort the feed by news, updates, photos, and links, but you'll wait each time for the page to load anew. You'll also wait for a reload if you'd like to travel farther down the timeline.

There's commenting, liking, poking, writing on a friend's wall, and viewing your message in-box and friends. While the photo uploader makes it handy to scroll through your image collection, you can't upload videos from your BlackBerry. You're able to invite a friend via e-mail, but not search Facebook's site for pals who have already joined.

The app makes up for this in part with some integration into the BlackBerry environment. You can mash contacts (and their itty-bitty profile pictures) into your address book, and trigger a wall or private message or a poke from there. Facebook events might also wind up in your calendar, like birthday reminders. You'll also receive notifications of new Facebook messages if you've configured the app for that. While there's plenty of room for improvement, using Facebook for BlackBerry is the only tenable choice

8. Opera Mini

The user interface in Opera Mini 6 is more usable than ever. The hub of the app is the Speed Dial feature, whereby you can set one-click shortcuts for up to nine of your favorite sites. Just like in the desktop version, these display thumbnail previews of the sites to make things as clear and simple as possible.

Opera Mini utilizes a tab-based interface, meaning that you can load multiple pages at once simply by clicking on the plus arrow in the top right-hand corner. Version 6 includes the ability to open links in the background, just by holding down a link and selecting 'Open in new tab'.

Google Maps For Blackberry Application Free Download

Just like the popular online maps site, Google Maps offers a great Blackberry application which allows for most of the same features on their site, except again, its running on your phone. You can get directions, get maps in satellite view and watch traffic and see your location (which can work even if your Blackberry doesn’t have GPS, but works better if it does). View a real-time online demo of Google Maps Mobile here or download it from your Blackberry’s browser here: http://m.google.com/maps.

    New Blackberry Google Maps Software

Thomas Landspurg has ported over J2ME Maps to the Blackberry platform. J2ME Maps is a program interface that lets you communicate with Google Map. Features include satellite and map views, zoom, search requests, and the ability to save your favorite locations. J2ME Map also uses JSR179, so theoritically it is possible to get your location via GPS. But the GPS feature has not been tested by the author.

    Google Maps (BlackBerry) 2.3.2

Now you can get business locations, maps and directions while you're on the go. And it's all free. Cruising around looking for a nearby coffee shop? Driving to that new restaurant but can't remember which street to turn right on? Now you can get business locations, maps and directions while you're on the go. And it's all free.

Real-time traffic : See where the congestion is, and estimate delays in over 30 major US metropolitan areas.

Detailed directions : Whether you plan to walk or drive, your route is displayed on the map itself, together with step-by-step directions.

Integrated search results : Local business locations and contact information appear all in one place, integrated on your map.

Easily movable maps : Interactive maps let you zoom in or out, and move in all directions so you can orient yourself visually.

Satellite imagery : Get a bird's eye view of your desired location. (It's like you're there, we swear.)

Google Maps 4.0 for BlackBerry adds

We’ve been rolling out new versions of Google Maps for mobile at a fast pace lately, and the first Google Maps for BlackBerry update of 2010 is a big one. For version 4.0, we’ve added new features to help you find places faster, post from those places with Google Buzz, star them for quick access, and more.

    Google Maps on BlackBerry

I’ve been using google maps on my PC for a while now. Checking out satellite images of your neighborhood and house is way cool, and getting directions using the google interface is more intuitive than some of the other internet mapping sites. Until recently, I would just print out those directions and take them with me.

But now I’ve discovered Google Maps for the BlackBerry. I installed it OTA from the google site onto my 7100T and took it out for a spin. First I entered the address of my house and soon I was presented with a zoomable map of my neighborhood. It came up suprisingly fast, considering that I was just using a plain old gprs connection. Using the thumbwheel and the ALT key, I could scroll around the map, and just like the PC version, new map sections were downloaded on the fly as I needed them. I could also switch to a satellite image of the area, although I can’t really come up with a compelling reason to do that, other than it’s just kinda cool. Next I entered a destination and asked for directions. After a brief pause, navigation points were displayed on the map. By pressing a few keys, I could move from point to point, and see what each turn would be. The map followed along nicely with each new move. That’s pretty neat, but it gets better.

Google Maps vs. BlackBerry Maps on Bold 9000

I have not tried either of these.   I read somewhere that BlackBerry Maps was not supported on AT&T network, but you may not want to give up on it as easy as I did.   I did find one I liked called amAze.   It has turn by turn voice directions with 3D or flat maps.  I haven't been in a case where I really needed it yet, but I did test it a couple times for some local stops.    Pretty **bleep** good for free.   It will use up battery as it keeps the back light on full time.   A USB car charger would help on long trips.  I have not looked for option to shut or reduce backlight yet.

    Blackberry 9900 Bold Full Review

The Bold series has been one of RIM's most popular, and the company made few changes in the basic design in this new version, even though a touchscreen was added. The device sports a 2.8-inch, VGA (640 x 480) 287 dpi capacitive display set above a small thumb-keyboard and optical trackpad. The latest in the BlackBerry lineup, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 has a 2.8-inch, 640 x 480 pixel display. It is among the newer BlackBerry devices with quad-band GSM support with tri-band HSPA+ capabilities. Running on the latest BlackBerry OS7, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 has a 1.2GHz single-core processor with 768MB of RAM. Other features include 8GB of internal memory, a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording, as well as NFC.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Torch 9810 are two business-centric devices with impressive hardware to boot. Which of the two should you go for?

In terms of design, the two BlackBerries are relatively similar in dimensions, although the BlackBerry Torch 9810 is slightly thicker due to its slide-out QWERTY keyboard. However, they will fit firmly in your hands regardless. Due to its design, the BlackBerry Torch 9810 is fitted with a larger 3.2-inch screen, as opposed to the BlackBerry Bold 9900’s 2.8-inch display. Size difference aside, they both offer the same screen resolution of 480 x 640 pixels.

BLACKBERRY THEMES APPLICATIoNS has the BlackBerry Bold 9900—RIM's newest and best smartphone—for sale. The inability to buy up-to-date, top-end devices from the upstart wireless carriers has been crippling thus far, as users want the latest and greatest when it comes to mobile technology.

As part of the newer lineup, these two devices will have a 1.2GHz processor running under the hood, which puts them on par in terms of performance. Moreover, they will run on the latest BlackBerry OS 7.

Both BlackBerries come with a generous 8GB of internal storage, which can be easily expanded via MicroSD cards of up to 32GB.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Torch 9810 are fitted with identical 5.0-megapixel cameras with nifty features such as image stabilisation and LED flash to aid your photo-taking tasks.

Given that both devices are virtually the same in terms of hardware, the design is the only thing that sets them apart. That said, you will have to pay a premium if you want the Bold’s more traditional look, whereas the Torch’s slider design will set you back a lot less.

BlackBerry OS 7 isn't a dramatic improvement over the previous version, but it includes a significantly improved web browser, support for 720p HD video recording, and an augmented reality app. The Bold 9900 also has a new version of BlackBerry Messenger and an updated Social Feeds app.

This is now available and still the best looking BlackBerry to-date, until those new BBX BlackBerry smartphones come out. MTS has priced the 9900 lower than some carriers at a reasonable $99.99 on a 3-year and ranges to $579.99 no-term. Quick reminder of its specs: BlackBerry 7 OS, a 2.8-inch touchscreen withe a full QWERTY keyboard, 1.2 GHz processor, Wi-Fi, 5 megapixel camera that shoots 720p HD videos.

Research in Motion today announced the official launch of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 in New Zealand. Vodafone is the first New Zealand operator to offer the new BlackBerry smartphone, available through Vodafone retail, online and other sales channels from today. Telecom New Zealand is expected to launch the BlackBerry Bold 9900 in the coming months.

“Consumers should get really excited about the launch of the BlackBerry Bold 9900. It features some great enhancements, entertainment features and apps which combine with trusted BlackBerry security and best-in-class email to create the perfect smartphone for work and play,” said Adele Beachley, Managing Director New Zealand, Research In Motion.

The evolution of the BlackBerry Bold is a sleeker, slimmer take of the iconic design, paired with the BlackBerry standard of best-in-class security, communications and business applications. Retaining the market-leading keyboard, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 also includes a high resolution touch screen that gives users the ideal medium for both typing emails and browsing the internet. A modern brushed-steel frame encases a toughened-glass body, which slims the Bold 9900 down to just 10.5mm, keeps up in the fashion stakes while maintaining a compact size for on-the-go use.

The new devices come with BlackBerry Messenger 6 (BBM 6) which provides support for ‘BBM connected’ apps to integrate the popular functionality of the BBM service and offer users the ability to interact with their friends from within the apps themselves. For example, with a BBM connected game app, users can invite their BBM friends to join them in a game and chat with one another in the middle of the game – without ever leaving the game app, all in real time.

Built on the BlackBerry 7 Operating System (OS) and driven by a powerful 1.2 GHz processor, the new smartphone delivers a fast user experience, as content comes to life through a smooth interface powered by Liquid Graphics.

Vodafone New Zealand recently announced that BlackBerry smartphones are now available on Vodafone Smart plans, giving customers access to BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) without any additional bolt-on fee.

The design of the new BlackBerry Bold 9900 sees it pick up pieces from previous Bold handsets. It’s larger than the previous 9700 family returning more to the form of the original 9000. It’s broader in the hand and neatly bordered by a classy metal band. It measures 115 x 66 x 10.5mm; it’s only the thickness that really differs from the original, RIM shaving an impressive 4mm off previous handsets.

QWERTY devices tend to be thicker than touchscreen rivals and we’re not about to get into a fuss over mere millimetres, as the Bold 9900 feels right in the hand. The thickness and the balance present that BlackBerry keyboard naturally, so as you’d expect, it feels comfortable to type on with one hand or two. The 130g weight is average and nothing to complain about.

The metal band encircling the Bold 9900 also helps give it a premium feel as well as highlighting the various buttons and connections. It is certainly smarter than the previous Bold family which now look very plasticy by comparison. The screen lock button sits on the top, slightly recessed, so as not to be unlocked when you slip it into your pocket; the volume controls sit on the right-hand side, with a shortcut “convenience” key moving from the middle towards the bottom.

On the opposing side you’ll find the Micro-USB and 3.5mm headphone connections towards the top, both conveniently out of the way so you can charge the device, listen to music and still get to the keyboard with your left hand. The same can’t be said for the “convenience” key on the right-hand side. Set to launch the camera by default, we can’t count the number of times we’ve launched the camera whilst gripping the device. It’s awkwardly placed at best, and doubly frustrating as the camera sometimes seems frustratingly slow to launch.

Around the back, the leatherette finish is out and a carbonfibre effect is in. It’s neat and tidy and looks the part, even if the back cover is difficult to prise out of its case. Some might see that as a positive given how easily the back cover would come off the previous Bold and indeed the Torch.

NFC finds its way into the Bold 9900, but with no infrastructure in place to use NFC at the moment, it’s more of a case in futureproofing than anything else as far as we’re concerned.

    Blackberry Tour 9600 Reviews

The Blackberry Tour 9600 is similar to the Blackberry Bold 9000, except it works with CDMA networks. As with the Bold, the Tour is a top of the line business device, with easy messaging and email, a functional and easy to use user interface, a great keyboard, and fast 3G data speeds, excellent battery life, and comes with a gorgeous screen that's great for internet surfing and video watching.

    Product Description

The Blackberry Bold 9000 combines all the elements power business users want with features casual users will love. As with all Blackberries, the messaging functionality is excellent, including the push email, the physical keyboard, the easy to use contact list and calendar functions. Despite blazing fast data connection speeds, the battery life is superb for a device in this class. The Blackberry has improved photo and music capabilities, which are perfectly fine, though not as elegant as Apple's suite. But the true surprise is the beautiful 2.6" 480x320 screen, which makes viewing photos or videos a delight.

Offering exceptional protection for BlackBerry Tour 9630 series mobiles phones, this Otterbox Defender series case fully envelops your device while preserving its distinct qualities. An innovative three-layer design protects your smartphone from bumps, drops, scratches and dust while keeping your device pristine. However, the Defender case does not offer protection against water.

The hard plastic shell offers protection against impact, while a thin, thermal-formed sheet covers your screen and keys. Next, a strong polycarbonate shell caresses your Bold and gives added protection against drops and bumps. Finally, a silicone skin wraps around it all to absorb shock.
